The
JAIPUR TILES are the finest example of ancient pottery art
and is among the oldest artforms in the colourful Indian
state of Rajasthan , famous worldover for it's cultural
heritage and art-n-crafts .
This art was introduced in India by Muslims and has since
underwent transitional changes . The revival of tile-making
began in the late 19th century , and Jaipur became the centre
of a thriving new industry producing pottery-ware . Even
today the descendants of the very first potters still live
and practice this art here . " Jaipur Tiles
" are unique in appearance and are possibly the only
tiles in the world that are made without using clay . Traditional
colours such as Turquoise blue , Cobalt Blue , dull green
and touches of yellow still remain unchanged ; however the
sizes , shapes and designs have been adopted to please a
more sophisticated clientele.
